Ex-Manchester United footballer receives totting up ban

Former Manchester United and Aston Villa footballer Dwight Yorke has been banned from driving for six months.

Leamington Spa Magistrates’ Court heard how Yorke was recorded travelling at 66 miles per hour on the M6 toll when there was a 40mph variable speed limit in force.

He already had ten points on his licence for three speeding offences when he was caught in Warwickshire in April 2015.

Magistrates at Leamington Spa gave Yorke six penalty points for the latest offence and subsequently was disqualified from driving for six months under the totting up procedure.

Yorke, of Alderley Edge, Cheshire, was fined £1,665 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and costs of £85.
