Merseyside’s most profitable speed cameras

Figures released by the Liverpool Echo show the top ten most profitable speed cameras in Merseyside responsible for catching over 20,000 speeding drivers in 2014.

The Speed cameras operated by the Merseyside Road Safety Partnership caught 22,322 motorists driving over the speed limit – 6,253 accepted a fixed penalty offer, 12,893 opted to attend a speed awareness course  and 3,176 were taken to court.

The top 10 speed cameras for 2014;

10) Gorsey Lane, Litherland – 654 drivers caught speeding

9) Smithdown Road, Toxteth – 728 drivers caught speeding

8) West Derby Road, Tuebrook – 806 drivers caught speeding

7) Prescot Road, Fairfield – 1,150 drivers caught speeding

6) New Chester Road, Birkenhead – 1,273 drivers caught speeding

5) Scotland Road southbound, Vauxhall – 1,317 drivers caught speeding

4) Scotland Road northbound, Vauxhall – 2,161 drivers caught speeding

3) M62, Broadgreen – 2,456 drivers caught speeding

2) Balliol Road, Bootle – 2,971 drivers caught speeding

1) Edge Lane Drive, Old Swan – 6,773 drivers caught speeding
