North Wales Police officer found guilty of careless driving
A North Wales Police Officer admitted he may have fell asleep when the police car he was driving crashed into another vehicle.
PC Michael Laidlaw, a serving police officer with 26 years experience, denied a dangerous driving charge following the incident in Rhos near Wrexham last year.
The court heard that if he had felt tired then he would have stopped driving and asked his colleague to take over.
Laidlaw was found not guilty to dangerous driving by the jury at Mold Crown Court after admitting to an alternative charge of careless driving.
He was fined £350 with £50 costs. Three penalty points were also endorsed on his licence.
