Speed Cameras

There are over 50 different types of speed camera. All cameras and the way they are operated are subject to strict rules. Failure by the police or the prosecution to comply with every individual rule for every camera means that the case against you may fail.

However, the police are not going to tell you if they have breached the rules, or if they have made a mistake.  Sometimes they will not even know themselves! The problem is that you will not know either.  In 99% of cases the officer’s word is never challenged and this may lead the police into taking short cuts and not doing everything they should.  The police expect you to plead guilty even before they show you the evidence, and many people plead guilty even where there may not have been any evidence to prove the case.

As part of the initial work that Marcus will undertake on your behalf he will identify the precise camera and all the rules and regulations applicable to your case.  He will then check whether the police and the prosecution have complied fully. The police very rarely supply adequate documentation to you and this may be because they do not have it.

For example, have you seen a photograph of your alleged speeding incident? If so, why only one? In many cases it is not possible to legally prove a speeding case against you unless the police are able to show two or more different photographs. Did you also know that the case may fail if the police cannot show evidence of their own calibration checks relating to their use of the camera on the day in question.

For an informal discussion of your case please telephone Marcus on 07810 804464.  If you would prefer not to telephone, please complete the online assessment form.
