Cheshire Police announce mobile phone campaign
Cheshire Police have issued a warning to motorists ahead of a month long campaign against the use of a mobile phone while driving.
The force will be clamping down on those sending messages or making calls while on the road this month in an operation aimed at educating motorists and prosecuting repeat offenders.
In 2014, officers issued 2,041 tickets to drivers using a mobile phone and 419 tickets for not being in proper control of a vehicle.
PC Eoin Anderson said: ‘ We want to drive the message home that being distracted at the wheel causes collisions, injuries and in some cases death.
‘We are determined to make Cheshire roads safer for all those who use them so we will be out and about ticketing anyone we see using their mobile phones while driving.
