Drivers and passengers have been targeted by police in Oakham for breaking the ‘four fatal’ laws.
Police were stopping motorists and their passengers who were travelling without wearing a seatbelt and drivers who were suspected of drink driving, using a mobile phone at the wheel of a vehicle or speeding.
Police were also running checks and giving fixed penalty notices to drivers whose cars were not up to road safety requirements.
Overall, officers stopped 11 people. 10 for not wearing a seatbelt and one for using a mobile phone while driving. Of those, two drivers were issued fixed penalty notices, one for not displaying a valid tax disc and not having a MOT and the other for having a defective tyre.
