A mother-to-be was forced to listen to her partner die in a car crash as he spoke to her from his mobile phone.
A court heard how Kok Sek Ng, was driving home after a late night shift in a restaurant when he swerved into a tree. Tan Lan, who was pregnant with the couple’s first child, told how there was a moments silence and how she could hear the sound of deep breathing and crackling. Lan, called out her partner’s name, but there was no reply.
Mr Ng’s use of a mobile phone while driving was likely to have been a significant factor in his death, the inquest was told.
